A Warm Welcome to Karo!

For six months, Karo will be doing an internship with us as part of her design studies. In this interview, we introduce her in more detail.
1. How did you decide to study design, and where exactly are you studying?
I study Visual Communication at Pforzheim University. Since my father is an artist, it was clear to me from an early age that I also wanted to go in a creative direction. I started drawing manga as a child, and when I was about 12, I got my first DSLR camera. I like that Visual Communication brings together several disciplines.
2. So besides photography, you also work with illustration. Tell us a bit more about your passion for design.
Right now, it is definitely glitch art, but I do not want to commit to a particular style yet. I want to keep developing.
Anime and video games have had the biggest influence on me; that is probably one reason why Japanese design fascinates me so much.
3. Good design - what exactly does that mean to you?
Good design is simple. Less is sometimes more.
4. The page is blank - and now?
Probably not for long if there is a pen nearby :)
5. BIG.BOLD.BETTER? What do you think will be the typography trends of the future?
In design, everything comes back. Right now, blackletter fonts are appearing more frequently, and I think this trend will stick around for a while.
