Between Lockdown and Home SchoolingStädtisches Gymnasium Augustinianum Greven

The two school years 2020 and 2021 demanded a great deal from Augustinianum in Greven in every respect and presented it with major challenges in its day-to-day school life. The familiar rhythm of school life, as students and teachers knew it, was suddenly no longer possible. Instead of seeing friends every day in regular classes, home schooling unexpectedly took over the timetable for long stretches.

Putting together a yearbook in those times was a challenge. In normal times, such a book thrives on shared experiences, anniversaries, celebrations, and class photos. At least the last of those was out of the question. Instead, one teacher volunteered to collect nearly 1,300 selfies from all students and teachers, which turned out to be a Herculean task.

Not only the school, but also Quandel Staudt, faced some challenges with the new biennial yearbook. In the end, though, we found creative solutions for every hurdle, some of which were probably firsts! It was important to us to present the themes in a humorous way as well, whether through the class collages or the book cover. After all, "distance" is the big theme here too!

We are proud that the Augustinianum's now fifth biennial yearbook has become a sales hit, despite - or perhaps because of - the many obstacles and difficult conditions.
