Great to have you here, Lorenz!

Lorenz is now supporting us as a working student, and we warmly welcome him!
Where do you study, and why did you choose to study media informatics?
I study media informatics with a focus on Web & Mobile at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen in Friedberg. Since I was at a vocational high school with a focus on design and media technology before my studies, and because I have always found computer science, especially web programming, interesting, media informatics was a perfect fit.
When did you know that you wanted to become a media informatics specialist?
After I finished school, I wanted to build a broad base of knowledge in design and computer science so that I could stay flexible in the future.
How did it come about that you chose an internship at a design agency?
During my studies, it became clear that my focus is graphic design. Graphic projects that came about alongside my studies through various clients also encouraged me to continue my education in that field.
What do you expect from web and mobile design, and where do you find inspiration?
Today, user interface and user experience are extremely important. An application or website should have a meaningful interface that is supported by design. I mainly find inspiration fromawwwards.com, Behance, and Pinterest, or from books about design.
What will the internet of 2030 look like?
For several years now, the Internet of Things has been advancing. In the future, almost every device will be connected and exchanging data. Your smartwatch will detect when you wake up, and the coffee machine will make you a cappuccino shortly after. Smart glasses will keep you up to date, and voice control will replace many other forms of control.
And finally, two either-or questions: art or design?
Design, because it is about functionality and purpose. Through design, you can influence people's everyday lives. That is the aspect of graphic design that I find most interesting.
Home or on the go?
Home, because it is the coziest place in the world.
