Roger Quandel

Roger was born in Struthuetten in the Siegerland region in 1959. He studied graphic design in Muenster, Westphalia. After teaching typography for one year at FH Muenster, he moved to Frankfurt am Main in 1986. There he worked for nine years in smaller design offices (Knut Hartmann Design, CeveyConcept). After 20 years at Quandel Design, he founded Quandel Staudt Design GmbH together with Marcel Staudt in 2015.
What excites you most about your profession?
The variety of tasks. A corporate design for an international architecture firm, signage for an S-Bahn station, a book about heart muscle diseases or a trade fair stand for a mechanical engineering company - few people get to work with such different topics in their profession.
Where do you get your ideas from?
Engaging deeply with the subject almost always produces suitable ideas. Developing those into viable communication and design - that is our job. A perfect result is rock'n'roll.
What trends are you seeing right now?
A lot of talking, little action. We need to start tackling things together again.

What does your heart beat for?
Good music and good sound.
