Starting with concept & app design

Before things become digital, our app designers start analog and need to know and understand your requirements and target audience in detail. For this we use personas or user scenarios for interacting with the app. We then create wireframes, both analog and digital, and define a rough concept for the content and desired functions of the app. User tests can already be carried out at this stage, following the motto: learn early and often, so adjustments can be made quickly and early.

Mobile app design with relevant information

From the start, the small playing field of the smartphone display defines the design framework: users can only process a few pieces of information or interaction options per screen. The sequence of information over time therefore plays a decisive role in creating a pleasant and intuitive user experience. This also means that all elements must be clear: buttons are easy to recognize as buttons, large enough and clearly labeled. Instructions must be clear, positive and consistent, and the most important points should always be mentioned first. Familiar patterns such as menu positions, learned finger gestures or simple thumb operation contribute to a pleasant UX.

Transitions & screen animations in the app design interface

To make the transition from screen to screen pleasant and understandable for users, we use transitions and micro animations intelligently. Users also receive important feedback on their interactions. What this looks like depends on many factors and can be subtle or very clear: perhaps a button or icon lights up, a modal layer opens with a personalized message, or the device vibrates or gives an audible signal.

When app development starts

We implement all previous considerations technically during the development phase and incorporate your wishes and feedback. We work iteratively using the Kanban model. With our external partners, we can program apps natively for Android or iOS. In this case, app and operating system work together perfectly, which makes the app more performant. We can also offer cross-platform solutions that can be used as cost-saving universal solutions and brought to market faster.

We love and use apps, on average five every day. But only the ones that are actually enjoyable. That is why we always keep both technology and design in view, so your users have an optimal experience. The special media possibilities should also be used: multi-touch, camera use, motion sensors or GPS offer important and meaningful interaction and design potential, depending on the app's use case.
