Deutsche BahnS-Bahn Station "Offenbach Ledermuseum"

Graphic structures and stories about leather

The Offenbach Ledermuseum S-Bahn Station gets a new face. It was only natural that the wayfinding system Quandel Staudt developed for Deutsche Bahn would be inspired by leather. The color and texture of this natural material form the visual framework for the wayfinding signs on the platform and in the B-level. A pattern of color-structured circles points the way on the platform, at the stairways, and in the B-level. Each circle is individually designed, given its own graphic structure, and names a worthwhile destination nearby. The colors of the circles are also drawn from the world of leather, with yellow and brown forming the respective color spectrum of the two exits to the east and west.

There is plenty to discover in the corners

In the B-level, color-coded word walls greet visitors on the way to the platforms and invite interaction. They were designed in cooperation with the German Leather Museum and spark interest in this distinctive natural material. Visitors can learn more via QR code, which takes them to matching exhibits on the museum's website. The differently sized yellow mirrors contrast with the typographic walls near the entrances and practically invite selfies. The playful concept catches the eye, unfolds throughout the space, and gives the station a surprisingly distinctive atmosphere.
