schneider+schumacherschneider+schumacher: 30

The Search for the Red Monolith

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the architectural practice schneider+schumacher published a nearly 400-page volume. In search of the origins and the genes of the studio, seven substantial thematic sections were formed to define the conceptual framework of the work. Seven renowned authors interpret these themes in their own way, while seven photographers and illustrators accompany the written contributions.

A book like an architectural statement

In between, Till Schneider and Michäl Schumacher offer insights into their way of thinking and recount familiar as well as previously untold stories about their most important projects. Visually, the content-rich book appears very simple: a red block with a white logo is all you see, reduced to the essentials and thus transformed into an objectified statement of the architectural practice.
