Deutsche BahnS-Bahn Station “Offenbach Marktplatz”
Colorful and diverse in every sense
Friendly and approachable – that was the aim when developing the wayfinding system we implemented on behalf of Deutsche Bahn for the underground “Offenbach Marktplatz” S-Bahn station. “Patchwork” is our response to the cultural diversity and vibrancy of Offenbach’s community and, at the same time, the design principle that uses colored “pixels” to create a new, varied whole.
A colorful pattern contrasts with the architecture of the S-Bahn station
In different sizes and freely arranged, the square “pixels” provide information about destinations and institutions that can be reached in the direction shown. A striking black band along the walls of the B level translates important destinations into several languages and creates another element symbolizing cohesion and diversity in a city like Offenbach. Another highlight: integration with Google Maps enables digital wayfinding. This is achieved by labeling the entrances and exits with letters.
